Director Rescue Message
During the last decade, there have been several reports of casualties resulting from natural calamities such as recurring heatwaves, flooding, droughts, and other catastrophes such as accidents, fires, explosions, or epidemics. Due to unprecedented trends of urban expansion and recurring natural and human-induced disasters, the need for Rescue service was essential. To Cater the emergency need of the province In June 2022, a dedicated emergency response helpline ‘Sindh Emergency Service Rescue 1122’ was launched and Rescue Head Quarter, Rescue Stations & Estate of the Art Central Command & Control is established in Karachi & remaining Divisional Head Quarters of Sindh Province, to provide communities with a ‘one window’ service for all kinds of emergencies and disasters. Building on the initial success of the project, and considering the need to strengthen Rescue management services in the context of climate change, the Government of Sindh is now scaling up the project under the World Bank-funded Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project to expand coverage from seven to 16 districts across Sindh.
The Sindh Emergency Service Rescue 1122 collaborates with local and international
partners in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives regarding urban
search and rescue operations. The project is in touch with international
mechanisms such as the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (UN
INSARAG) and we are excited for cross-border knowledge transfer and
intercultural dialogue among organisations.
It is really a privileged for me to not only implemented the project but also leading the operations and commanding the Rescue force of Sindh Emergency Service Rescue 1122 by offering Medical Emergency Service (Ambulance service), Fire Fighting Service, Water Rescue Service & Urban Search & Rescue Service and expanding the operations in major districts of Sindh and on main Highways and Motorways.
